I’ve been wanting to make a denim jacket recently, so this last week I finally got some time to put in some work.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the color theories of Mark Rothko and the abstract paintings of Joan Miró, so I wanted to incorporate some of those ideas into this piece.

The inside lining is a double layered wool. I transferred the shapes via my sketches from a pattern, sewed around the shapes and the cut them out. It makes for a pretty heavy jacket, but I wanted something that was going to keep me warm. The sleeves aren’t lined, so it’s stay relatively cool as well.

I really liked how it turned out. I’m going to have the pattern scanned and graded and I’ll sell them in a limited run. Get in touch for pricing and colors…

Up next week, the women’s version. Stay tuned…
